WANDERERS fans in Scotland are quietly confident as they prepare for the visit to Leeds United on Sunday afternoon.

John Davidson, of BWFC Scotland Supporters' Club, has sent us this report:

Another crunch game for the Wanderers at the weekend, but the cries of three points being essential are quietening down.

With Leeds and Chelsea coming up over the next fortnight perhaps the expectation is dwindling, but if the time is ever right to meet the Yorkshire club it is surely now.

A barren spell in the Premiership since Terry Venables took over four months ago, epitomised by their defeat to Sheffield United in the Worthington Cup, has led to the Elland Road fans calling for El Tel's head already.

Even a desperate 4-3 win over West Ham last weekend hasn't silenced the critics - it wasn't the great victory the score line might suggest. Leeds were 4-1 up before being pinned back in the latter stages, and now they face bottom club, Bolton.

Nothing but victory will be good enough for the Leeds fans, so this could be the first game in some time where the Wanderers are under (slightly) less pressure than the opposition. If we can get the home side on the back foot early on then the impetus will be with the Whites as their fans turn against them.

Results, not to mention decisions, haven't been going our way recently, but one thing has turned around. It's now Bolton who are sneaking the last minute goals instead of the opposition, as happened earlier in the season particularly in those untimely defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal.

Combined with the discontent at Leeds at the moment this could just count in our favour. And who knows? With a boost in confidence at the weekend, entertaining Chelsea the following Saturday might not cause the same heartache that playing the London outfit did last season.

Meanwhile, BWFC Scotland will have representatives at both the Leeds and Chelsea games.

The supporters club are currently arranging their Christmas night out to coincide with the home match against Leeds United on December 16.
