A CHURCH in Bolton will be holding a service this weekend to remember those who have been killed and injured on our roads.
St Peter's Church, Belmont, will be one of 30 churches nationwide to hold a remembrance service on Sunday -- the European Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims. The services have been organised by the church and RoadPeace, the national charity for road traffic victims.
On average, 10 people are killed and almost 1,400 are injured every day in road accidents in this country.
Anne Jones, who has helped organise the service at St Peter's Church said: "We feel that this service is important for people who have suffered the pain of losing a loved one in a road accident.
"It gives them the chance to come together, meet and talk to people who have gone through the same experience."
Anne has experienced the pain when she lost her father, Leslie Jacques, three years ago. She said: "It's had a huge effect on the entire family, but I'm trying to make something postive out of the pain. The more who come to the service the better."
RoadPeace will also be launching a new internet memorial website on Sunday, which will give relatives the opportunity to place photographs and written passages on the web. For more details on the charity RoadPeace, call the help-line number on 020 8964 1021. The service starts at 3pm
