Mr Rink, who died suddenly in December,1999, was the popular chairman of Bolton & Bury Chamber and joiont chairman of Wolstenholme Rink plc at Darwen.

He lived in Bolton and provided an example for other business people to follow through untiring work with numerous local organisations.

BBV (Bolton Business Ventures) launched an award in his name last year aimed at honouring a business person who had invested time and talents in community activities.

The first winner -- announced at the Bolton and Bury Business Awards dinner -- was Andrew Dickson of St Andrews Travel, Bolton.

BBV is now looking for a person who has made a specific impact during 2002 -- perhaps someone who is involved with a local organisation, a social enterprise or a charity.

Mr Paul Davidson, Chief Executive of BBV, said: "We are looking for a person who has given generously of their time and talents to a community initiative outside the mainstream business activities."

Anyone who wants to nominate a person from Bolton or Bury is asked to ring BBV on 01204 391400 for a nomination form.

The decision will be made by a special panel made up of Mr Rink's widow Vivien, Ross Warburton from the local bakery firm and Paul Davidson.

The winner will receive a special trophy during the lunchtime Awards ceremony being held at the Reebok on February 14 for the inaugural North Manchester Women in Business Awards being organised by BBV. Entries for the Tony Rink Award are open until December 31.
