RELEGATION is a huge spur for any team -- and it is certainly proving one for Westhoughton A.

They dropped out of B Section last season after an unhappy set of results which saw them win only one match.

But, they are determined to make no mistakes in getting immediate promotion.

Currently heading C Section, they have won all their matches so far, disposing of the latest challenge from Sharples B 12-6.

GMT B just missed out on promotion last season, but they're making no mistakes this year. They are currently sharing the points at the top of D Section, but with a superior games' score.

Elsewhere in the Bolton Badminton League, A Section is reduced to 10 teams following the withdrawal of Bolton Institute.

DL Farnworth A continue their determined progress in B Section, having dropped only two points so far. Chowbent B are the nearest challengers, with Swinton and Hawkshaw B waiting in the wings.

League development liaison officer Ray Schofield reminds players that an adult coaching course with County star Julian Priestley starts next Thursday at St Joseph's School in Horwich.
