PLANS are in place and money is already rolling in to commission a sculpture to honour Nat Lofthouse's unique contribution to Bolton Wanderers.
The plan, hatched in Canada, is to have a giant tribute to the legendary Lion of Vienna given pride of place outside the Reebok Stadium.
Wanderers have officially endorsed "Stadium Sculpture Project - Operation Lofhouse", as the project is named, but it has been left to supporters to raise the £40,000 cost of commissioning the work from the Canadian sculptor Susan Murar.
So the call has gone out to Bolton fans around the globe to help fund the work.
The Canadian supporters, who have already raised £2,000, are also planning to commission a plaque depicting Nat's role in leading Wanderers in their 1958 FA Cup triumph over Manchester United at Wembley, which they hope will be given a prominent spot inside the Reebok.
"The Canadians want to gift the plaque to the Reebok stadium in the New Year while fundraising and planning continue for the larger sculpure," said Stephan Czartorynsky of the Wanderers Supporters Club of Canada.
"It is hoped the plaque will be placed in a prominent location, where it will be seen by the many visitors to the stadium."
