CHORLEY capped a hard-working display with a late winner to record their first league double of the season and move above their hosts back into the top six in the UniBond First Division table.

Apart from the three points, the Magpies had every reason to be pleased with the three players making their debuts. Lee Bracey looked assured in goal and Danny Mills marked his return to the club with a busy performance in midfield.

An unfortunate hamstring injury to full back Paul Varley, who had to leave the field midway through the second half, also gave an opportunity to another recent signing, Phil Bayliss, and he responded most impressively, contributing to Chorley's winning goal.

The match was full of entertainment and the Magpies were worthy winners after creating any number of shooting chances throughout.

After weathering early Lincoln pressure, during which Bracey smartly whipped the ball off Ian Williams' toes as he burst through, Chorley dominated the first half, but their best efforts on goal from Mills and Chris Patterson flew just too high.

They were finally rewarded in the 45th minute when Darren Emmett worked his way along the front of the box before firing low into the corner of the net.

David Eatock wasted a good chance by shooting over after intelligent work by the industrious Anthony Hogan but Lincoln came much more into the game as the second half progressed and equalised in the 75th minute.

Lee Cooper's determined run carried him through two challenges and he cleverly lobbed the ball beyond the advancing Bracey.

The same player was close again soon afterwards with a powerful header which flashed just over the bar.

However, Chorley continued to look dangerous, the home keeper making a scrambling stop from Bayliss and then saving at the second attempt from Mills following a Bayliss pass.

Five minutes from time Bayliss was again involved, heading Eatock's deep cross back across the face of goal for Hogan to head in with obvious delight from six yards.
