MAINTAINING our pledge to keep Wanderers' fans abreast of the players Sam Allardyce is "set to sign" or "has targeted", here are a couple more to add to the list - according to the "informed" tabloid rumour mongers:

Carsten Jancker - the striker linked with Wanderers is still scoring on the international front but is in the grip of a goal famine at Italian club Udinese following his move from Bayern Munich.

Sergei Barbarez - the Bosnian international plays at SV Hamburg (Stig Tofting's former club), having previously played in the Bundesliga with Dortmund. He says he wants to play in the Premiership.

Also "destined for the Reebok" when the transfer window opens are Greek internationals Zivis Vryzas who is unhappy at Perugia and Roma's Traianos Dellas plus Albanian international Ighli Tare.

Nearer home, Wanderers have been linked with John Hartson, who has been on a roll at Celtic after missing out on first team selection, Wimbledon's Irish international David Connelly and the Jamaican international Ricardo Fuller, who is catching the eye at Preston.

Forgetting the fiction, Allardyce would be interested in Derby's Malcolm Christie ... if he had £3 million to spend, which he hasn't. He might still fancy Jay Jay Okocha's Nigerian international team-mates Julius Aghahowa and Yakubu Ayegbene if their clubs Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine) or Maccabi Haifa (Israel) would do business.

He has also checked out the experienced Slovenian international Milan Osterc but chose not to pursue his interest after seeing the former Hapoel Tel Aviv striker on trial.
