The Sooty Show: The Izzy Wizzy Tour, The Albert Halls - EVERYONE remembers the magic words "Izzy wizzy, let's get busy" from the Sooty Show.
And now the television show has been brought to the stage with the national Izzy Wizzy Tour.
I had the chance to step back in time and remember what it was like to be little again by joining in the singing, clapping and dancing with all the regulars -- Sooty, Sweep and Soo. But now there is also the addition of Sooty's cousin Scampi, Miki the cat and Butch the dog. And the role of Matthew Corbett is now played by Richard Cadell, who had all the children, and a few adults, joining in the fun. The gang headed off for a holiday, and the show follows the magic and mayhem that takes place during their stay at the hotel.
With exploding sausages, talking moose heads and a kitchen fire, there were slapstick jokes aplenty, guaranteed to amuse both young and old.
And when Richard was encouraging the children to participate by shouting for Sooty to put out the kitchen fire, I found myself getting carried away and joining in too.
The set was simply the kitchen, reception, bedrooms and attic of the hotel, but worked well as the action during the show kept the attention of even the wrigglest three-year-old. My four-year-old theatre partner agreed that the show was great fun and decided that his favourite bit was when Sooty soaked the audience with a hose pipe when trying to put out the kitchen fire from his helicopter.
