IMPROVEMENTS should be made to an "eyesore" town centre building, according to a councillor.

During a discussion about an application to change a retail shop at Unit 5A Deansgate into premises for a BSM Driving School, Cllr Norman Critchley called the building's appearance a "disgrace".

He said the property, which stands opposite Preston's and the Goose, had green felt-like cladding on its two top storeys.

A decision on the application was deferred to examine whether planning bosses order improvement to the building's appearance.
