BOLTON RUFC's lack of a cutting edge in attack cost them a 15-0 home victory by Trafford.

Not even an Avenue Street crowd swelled by the guestsat the former players' lunch before the game failed to inspire them to produce the required result.

Trafford who currently sit in third place in the league won the game despite having much less of the possession than their hosts.

Bolton failed to produce many try scoring chances, the boot of stand off Guy Lovgreen the closest to providing first half points but he was just wide with a couple of penalty chances. The Bolton forwards struggled in the scrum against their heavier opponents and Trafford went in front with a two well taken scores. Despite lots of effort from the home side, Bolton could not respond and Trafford emerged worthy winners.

In contrast Bolton seconds travelled to Trafford and came back with an excellent 18-11 success.

Bolton's first score came from a Taff Wallbank penalty in reply to two earlier similar scores from the opposition before they were awarded a penalty try when a player was blatantly obstructed as he was about to score.

Wallbank was sent to the sin bin for dissent and in this period Trafford reduced the margin to one point with an unconverted try but Bolton scored the winning try when, after good work by the forwards, prop Sean Crimmins crashed over.

Bolton thirds returned to winning ways with a 35- 0 away win at Ashton on Mersey. Tries came from Paul Hunt 2, Mickey Kay, Adam McDermott, Derek Keogh, and Craig Ackers. Greg McMillan added a five points from successful kicks.

Bolton's Vets lost at home 19-24 to Preston Grasshoppers. Anthony Turner scored two tries while Mike Bray added another plus one conversion.
