SEVERAL local worthy causes are to receive a cash boost from the Atherton Charity Cup fund.
This year's donations were agreed last week with a total of £2,000 to be paid out. The main beneficiaries will be The Atherton Over 80s Food Parcel, Wigan and Leigh Hospice and Pendlebury Children's Hospital. Old People's Homes in Atherton, Two Porches, Tyldesley Handicapped, Four Ways, Greenhall, Derian house and the Daniel Berry fund will all receive £100 each.
Fund-raising continues on Sunday, November 24 with a second staging of the highly popular "Peeps Into The Past" football exhibition. This features Tommy Richards' collection of photographs, scrapbooks and memorabilia from the last century up to the present day. Tommy is particularly keen for people to come along and help put "names to faces" in his marvellous collection of more than 100 rare photographs. The exhibition will be held at Atherton LR's Crilly Park ground clubhouse from 1-6pm. Admission is by draw ticket of 50p each with all prizes donated by friends, local football clubs and the local amateur football league. Further details are available from Tommy on 01942 894869.
