BURY Under 15 crashed out of the English Schools' Wizards Trophy after going down 3-0 to local rivals Salford in their 3rd Round clash at the Derby School.
The game was an evenly fought affair in the opening exchanges and Bury were unfortunate not to take the lead when a Lee Bruce shot hit the post.
Salford, who lifted the title in 2000 with a two Legged victory against Cardiff at Old Trafford, broke the deadlock after 22 minutes when Mike Davies headed home a Mitchell Tilley corner.
Bury suffered another setback just after the break when Salford added their second with Tilley scoring from close range following a Chris Parrott shot.
Salford were the bigger and stronger team and they completed the scoring when substitute James Timmins headed home from Parrott's right wing cross seven minutes from time.
In the other national inter association 3rd Round games in Greater Manchester, Stockport beat Trafford 5-2 and Wigan had a comfortable 4-0 win against Blackburn at Plessington.
Bolton Under 15s Northern Merit League match against West Lancashire at Skelmersdale was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
