MY son attends the new "Gates" school in Westhoughton.
Overall, I am pleased with the new premises and facilities. However, what I am alarmed and astonished at are the crossing facilities on Manchester Road. My son risks his life four times a day as he crosses over with the school crossing lady. Surely the children's safety should be a priority?
I believe there is going to be a pedestrian crossing installed eventually, but I would like to know when. And also why was this not ready for when the new school opened, as the council have known for so long where the school was going to be located?
I believe planning permission has to be granted before the crossing can go ahead, and I am fully aware of the planning process, but fail to see why this was not applied for many months ago.
