SMOOTH, silky . . . and very slinky. It is not difficult to see how Morrisons' new South American range of wines has been given its name.
The supermarket has collaborated with Bottle Green to create Slinky Chardonnay, Slinky Shiraz and Slinky Pink. The wines have been made using new Australian based production methods in Argentina's most forward thinking, ambitious co-operative. Their competitive price and eye catching bottle designs have been created to appeal to the under-30s' market. The range is very well priced at £3.99 a bottle.
ANY problems deciding just what wines to put out on the table at Christmas have been eradicated by a new red and white on the market.
Christmas Red and Christmas White are shamelessly targeted at the festive market. Both are bottled with a silver finish, displaying either a red or white bauble. The Red is a velvety 2001 Merlot -- a full bodied accompaniment to roasted meats and vegetables, while the White is an aromatic rich and buttery Chardonnay 2001 which should go beautifully with traditional Christmas turkey or chicken. Both are available at £4.99 from Threshers and Victoria Wine.
TIA Lusso, a new smooth cream liqueur, has enjoyed massive success since being launched earlier this year. The drink is a warming creamy sweet liqueur which mixes Jamaican coffee, smooth rum and fresh cream. And the drink is already expanding its market base with a new half bottle. The 35cl bottle is now available at £6.79.
DOOLEY'S, the vodka based drink, mixed with a toffee flavour, which was first introduced to the market in the run up to Christmas 2000, has introduced its own website for anyone interested in sharing ideas for cocktails. The site, at www.dooleystoffee.com also invites customers to submit their own recipes. The drink is stocked in Unwins, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Safeway and Somerfield, priced £10.59.
