A MINIATURE Shetland pony has been stolen from a field near Blackrod, police have revealed.
Four-year-old stallion Cherokee, who stands at just 30 inches tall, was taken from fenced-off land, known locally as Tanner's Brew, near the A6 in Blackrod and his owner Kath Cresswell has been left devastated.
Fearing Cherokee may have been sold, she is asking for anyone with information to contact the police.
Miniature Shetland ponies are quite rare. Mrs Cresswell said the animal cost more than £400 four years ago.
Cherokee was taken from the field, near to the A6 junction with Station Road, between 6pm on Wednesday, October 23 and 5pm the following day.
He is a light brown and white pony and was not security tagged.
Police have confirmed they are investigating.
A spokesman said: "We would ask anyone with information to contact us."
Mrs Cresswell added: "People have said they saw a group of people walking him down the road.
"I would urge anyone who can help to contact the police."
Anyone with any information can contact Bolton Police on 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers on freephone 0800 555 111.
