A MAN hanged himself from a tree in a park after splitting-up with his girlfriend of seven years.
Andrew Williams, aged 37, from Bolton, was found in Leverhulme Park, Tonge Fold.
A Bolton inquest heard that at the time of his death he had been living at a bail hostel in Chorlton, after being charged with assaulting his partner during a row.
The relationship ended and Mr Williams became depressed -- an illness from which he had suffered for some years.
Probation officer and deputy manager at the hostel, Trevor Kay told the inquest: "I found him very tearful and guilt ridden. He did seem very depressed."
Mr Kay initially cheered up when he thought there may have been a chance of reconciliation with his partner.
But three days later, he hanged himself. Coroner Jennifer Leeming, who concluded Mr Williams took his own life, heard that he had attempted to self-harm in the past when he feared his relationship was waning.
Mr Williams was on anti-depressants but sometimes had trouble remembering to take them was over."
