MANY people will be shocked at the news that an 11 year-old boy was allegedly strung up in a doorway by a gang of cruel bullies.
The Deane School pupil was said to be left hanging dangerously. Five other pupils have been involved, and police are also investigating.
It is a very upsetting start to school-life for this lad, and a sad reflection of the level of casual violence sometimes meted out to younger pupils in schools today.
The incident is, sadly, not rare -- although the level of stupidity is new -- and is all the more regrettable because local schools like The Deane have been having such success combatting bullying.
Initiatives there and in other local secondary schools do work, and will still work in spite of this latest unhappy event.
