Are you a Wainwright fan? Interest in Lancashire's master fell walker, who died in 1991, has now led to the initiation of a "Wainwright Society" with the backing of Kendal Museum.
Wainwright's seven pictorial guides to the Lakeland Fells are legendary and the fledgling society has just celebrated its initiation by re-enacting Wainwright's first entry into his first walking guide -- a walk up Dove Crag exactly 50 years ago.
The society is interested in views and suggestions of Wainwright fans. So check out its web site www.wainwright.org.uk or contact it, care of the Kendal Museum of Natural History and Archaeology.
