LEIGH Centurions will fight to keep hold of Simon Baldwin, despite Salford City Reds claiming they will sign him. Leigh are set to offer Baldwin a new contract within the next week and have also rubbished newspaper reports that Dale Cardoza had been offered to Leeds Rhinos.
Paul Terzis says: "This story is complete rubbish. Dale rang me very concerned but I told him we hadn't received any enquiries but if we did he would be the first to know."
Leigh have agreed terms with ex-Dewsbury and Widnes back rower Sean Richardson and they are locked in talks with several others including Salford' prop Paul Southern and ex-Saints and GB star Sonny Nickle.
Leigh have also been speaking to two of their former players, Michael Watts and Alan Hadcroft in the hope of attracting them back to Hilton Park.
Terzis is also looking overseas and has made an offer to Canterbury Bulldogs reserve grade star Pat Weisman.
Weisman, 20, would not count on Leigh's overseas quota as he carries a British passport. He is equally at home at stand-off, loose-forward or centre and Terzis describes him as having a 'top class kicking game.'
Four players released at the end of last season have found new clubs - three of them joining the ever-growing band of ex-Centurions at Chorley.
Prop Simon Knox has joined Swinton while Dave Whittle, Dave Ingram and Ian Hodson have all linked up with Leigh's former Academy coach Darren Abram at Chorley.
But Leigh have released prop Andy Grundy back to Chorley even before he's played a game. According to Terzis, Grundy doesn't figure in his plans.
"I've spoken to Andy and he will now not be joining us. We had a chat and I wished him well for the future."
Terzis says admits he's still some way from completing his 22-man squad for next season but with training due to officially resume next week, he's keen to get players in.
"I know we've not been very active in the transfer market but I've been concentrating on quality rather than quantity. I think that in a week's time the bulk of the squad will be in place.
Admission prices into Hilton Park will be increased next season - the first for three years.
Adult ground admission is now £9 with a £2 stand transfer. Concessionary and child prices are £5 and £1 transfer.
