Straight from the horse's mouth by Fred Done
THERE were a few surprises in the Premiership last weekend with Sunderland nicking a point at Anfield. Charlton turned over City at Maine Road and the biggest of all was Wanderers hammering Leeds 4-2.
It'll be another major achievement if Big Sam can inspire Bolton to victory against Chelsea at the Reebok tomorrow as Chelsea are going well and in my opinion are dark horses for the Premiership title. A win could well see Bolton out of the drop zone but with both sides going hammer and tongs, a draw seems as likely as anything, a 2-2 draw is 14-1 with me.
Two knights of the realm come head to head in tomorrow's lunchtime live match as Sir Alex welcomes Sir Bobby into his backyard. The Reds need a win to spark off their title challenge and a 3-0 drubbing with Van Nistelrooy pays £550 for a tenner if it comes off.
City face a tricky trip to Boro with Keegan bemoaning the lack of depth to his squad and appealing to his Board for more money to spend on signings. Possibly his most influential signing to date Nicolas Anelka has proved his worth so far and he's a good bet to open the scoring on Saturday at 5/1. I think City can win this one 2-0 (a 28/1 chance).
Sunday's live match sees El Tel take his underachieving Leeds side to his old stamping ground White Hart Lane. I'm assuming Alan Sugar's ban on Venables visiting the ground has been lifted, otherwise it could be even more difficult for the cheeky Cockney chappie! These two teams are both as bad as each other at the moment and it could pay to back a 1-1 draw at 11/2.
It's a big weekend for both codes of rugby, with the final Test of the Great Britain v New Zealand series and England v South Africa at Twickers. The League match has got a fair way to go to live up to the excitement of last weekend's draw, why Great Britain didn't go for the drop earlier to win the match is beyond me. The Kiwis have got a load of injuries and the squad is down to the bare bones, but it would be wrong to underestimate them and they will still start as favourites on the handicap.
South Africa have hit rock bottom in rugby union with an appalling performance at Murrayfield on Saturday and it must be with some trepidation that they visit Twickenham to face England this week. Expect to see them receiving a start on the handicap in the high teens and England should win comfortably.
