MARK Nightingale, the man described by Sir John Dankworth as "the world's best jazz trombone player", will top the bill at the final Jazz Jamboree of 2002 at Derby Ward Labour Club, Deane Road, Bolton, on Friday, December 6.
Mark has been with British jazz legend Sir John since the end of last year and has strengthened his already impressive reputation.
A former member of the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Mark first came to Bolton three years ago when he partnered trumpet player Ben Castle in a concert at the Derby ward club.
Since then, their careers have taken off in spectacular fashion and, because of prior commitments, it was impossible to find a date when they could jointly appear in Bolton this year.
Ben wowed a capacity crowd when he played Derby ward in September and a similar full house is expected for Mark on December 6. He will be backed by the Steve Moore Trio and local bebop favourites Jeriatric Jazz will play in support. The show runs from 8pm to 11.30pm and tickets, priced £3, can be obtained from Derby Ward Labour Club (01204 531114) or from 01204 307329.
