A THEATRE performance with social relevance and the ability to entertain takes to the stage in Bolton on Thursday.
Cardboard Citizens is a theatre group in which all the actors have experienced homelessness in some way -- so performances truly come from the heart!
The group, who perform in a professional and innovative style, will be staging The Man With Size 12 Feet at the Victoria Halls, Knowsley Street, at 7pm.
Cardboard Citizens has been touring for several years and specialises in performing plays that raise awareness of homelessness. This will be a return performance for the group in Bolton.
Bolton Bond Board, a charity which assists homeless people with non-cash deposits and support to maintain their tenancies, has been host to the group before and was impressed enough to issue a return invitation.
This current play is about drug users who have been imprisoned but are now released. It follows how they struggle to survive without returning to prison.
Sharon Betton, the Bond Board's landlord support worker, said: "This seemed very relevant to situations in Bolton and I am particularly keen to involve local landlords who will have first hand experience of this client group."
The Bond Board is also appealing for sponsorship. She explained: "If we can find sponsorship it will allow us to offer free admission. If not, it will be £2.50 admission for waged people, and £1 for unwaged."
A light supper will also be provided. For tickets telephone 366328.
