EAGLEY returned pointless from their West Lancs League Premier Division fixture against an in-form Freckleton side after going down to a 60th minute penalty.

In an even first half, chances for either team were few and far between. But on the re-start the Villagers took the game to their opponents and dominated for long periods.

They should have made the chances they created count but a combination of bad luck, the woodwork and a missed penalty on 75 minutes left them with no reward.

But manager Pete Darby was heartened by the performance and an improvement in his side's league position only looks a matter of time away.

Eagley Seconds staged a remarkable fightback against Garstang, coming from 2-0 down to win 6-3. Goalscorers were Grimshaw, two, Bentham, Roberts, Maghee and Taylor.

On Saturday Eagley entertain Springfields, kick-off 2.15pm, while the second team travel to Poulton Town.

Blackrod completed a league double over Blackpool outfit Wren Rovers.

They added a 2-0 away triumph to their 7-0 mauling earlier this season.

David Sutch regained his composure after being fouled in the box to slot home a penalty after 20 minutes and Chris Tonge made the game safe after 83 minutes.

The win could have been made even more comfortable, with Sutch hitting the bar from 30 yards and Mark Height having a goal disallowed for and alleged offside.

Blackrod's second team drew 1-1 at home to Freckleton in Reserve Division One.

Carl McKnight put them a goal up after 15 minutes only for the visitors to equalise with 20 minutes left.
