A LIFELONG Wanderers fan and his young son were so upset at the language used by fans during a match that they walked out of the stadium

But on their way out they bumped into Wanderers chairman Mr Phil Gartside -- and ended up in the best seats in the Reebok.

Andrew Fairclough and eight-year-old Elliot were so appalled by the language of fans in the family stand during the recent match against West Brom that they left at half-time. When Mr Gartside saw them leaving he asked where they were going.

After Andrew, aged 34, from Kentsford Drive, Radcliffe, explained their plight they were invited up to the lofty perch of the director's box to watch the rest of the match in style.

Their host even offered them a free meal after the game but they declined because Elliot's mum, Lisa, had cooked their tea at home.

Andrew said: "I couldn't believe it when Mr Gartside asked us to go up to the director's box with him. We were really fed up but he restored our faith in the club -- and in football."

Andrew, who works as an insurance assessor, has had a Wanderers season ticket for 10 years.

He took Elliot to his first football match at one of the last ever games at Burnden Park and the youngster, who attends Lowercroft Primary School, has been going to watch the team at the Reebok ever since.

Elliot was so delighted with Mr Gartside's generosity that he has now invited him to watch his own squad, Radcliffe Borough Juniors.

His dad Andrew said: "Elliot knows Mr Gartside is a bit busy but he really hopes he'll be able to come."
