THREE pupils from Bury Grammar School have been short-listed as national finalists in Tesco's Our School Awards 2002.
Sanjay Desai, Stuart Douthwaite and Michael Ward, will be attending a prestigious awards ceremony on Thursday, December 5, at the London Aquarium.
The group of sixth formers have been chosen as finalists for the Working Together award, for working hard to organise a sponsored event to climb the national Three Peaks in aid of Christie's Hospital Fight Against Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
The boys showed great determination and commitment by organising drivers, advertising and sponsorship.
which included taking a "For Sale" sign to be photographed on the top of each mountain.
The pupils completed the Three Peaks in a time of 19 hours, 29 minutes, raising about £5,000 for their three chosen charities.
The pupils beat hundreds of other entries to be regional winners.
Prizes on offer for the winners include internet ready PCs, digital cameras and Tesco gift vouchers.
The awards evening will include guests DJ Foxy and top band S Club Juniors who will be signing autographs and meeting the lucky winners.
