BOLTON Little Theatre is set to stage the popular Yorkshire comedy, When We Are Married, for the third time . . . but for director Steve Gill it marks a first.
Despite the theatre's familiarity with the play, Steve had never seen it before, so can promise he will be taking a look at it through fresh eyes.
He explained: "The only advantage I have is that I am probably the only one who has never seen the play, and at the time of being offered it, knew nothing about it."
Another first for the play will be the appearance of Edwina Freeman, who despite her extensive experience in the world of Bolton amateur theatre, is due to make her first BLT performance.
The comedy by JB Priestly runs from Saturday for a week. However, the first night is already sold out thanks to the Variety Club of Great Britain. The charity group has bought all the seats for a gala champagne night to raise funds.
When We Are Married is set in 1908 in Clecklewyke. The occasion is the silver wedding celebration of the Helliwells, the Parkers and the Soppitts, all respectable pillars of the local community. But one task remains before the fun can begin. They have decided to reprimand the new young organist -- a big mistake as he brings news that throws the household into turmoil and seems to bring the whole of Clecklewyke to their door.
A 13-strong cast will appear on stage as the richly-drawn and diverse characters.
Tickets are from the Albert Halls Ticket Office on 01204 334400, the theatre box office on 01204 524469, or can be picked up in person between 6.15pm to 8pm.
