CAN understand why residents are annoyed at having to pay £30 to park outside their front doors.
Some time ago, at one of the parking conferences and in your Letters page, I suggested that disabled drivers should pay an annual fee for the privilege of parking free in the streets, roads and car parks of this town. Disability has no bearing on the competence to pay. Just take a look at the class of cars that carry these badges.
Since there are thousands of free parkers, an annual fee of £30 or £50 would not go amiss and would probably stop the ever-growing need to increase the fees.
As to my first sentence, why not a sign or sticker on the windscreen for "Residents only"? No charge, job done.
