From the Evening News, November 29, 1992: LANCASHIRE is top of the pops for sex in Britain, a new survey has disclosed.

Lancastrians have sex on average 77 times a year, while their Yorkshire rivals are content with just 67 times - the lowest figure in the national league table.

The results of the survey, carried out by Durex, show other high scorers are Tyne Tees, 75, and Anglia, 74. The national average is 71, while three per cent of those interviewed claim to have sex at least once a day - and 40 per cent have it two to three times a week.

He sent letters to parents complaining of misbehaviour among children travelling to and from the school on the coaches.

NEARLY 1,000 people crowded into St Bede's School, Morris Green, last night, to protest against the continued mining subsidence. They were told that in addition to the hundreds of homes which are being affected, Hulton hospital is now showing the first signs of the ravages caused by sinking earth.

More than 200 men and women were unable to gain admission to the school, and the voices of the speakers were relayed to them in the schoolyard by loudspeakers. Many of those inside were in adjoining classrooms, and were unable to see the platform. The chairman, Mr John Crompton, said: "We belong to all parties, but we are united in this fight against evil."

THE Farnworth public ambulance, which has been in charge of the county police since presented by them to the District Council almost eight years ago, has just undergone a thorough renovation, including the strengthening of the springs, the provision of new brakes and rubber tyres to the wheels, painting, polishing, etc., so that it looks practically new.

The builders, who have remarked upon the excellent condition in which it has been kept, seeing that it has been put to use some 280 times, have made an excellent job of the repairs, which have cost £20, and will be met by grants of £10 from the Police Swimming Club, and £10 from Supt. Leeming's charity fund. While it was away, not a single accident occurred necessitating its use.
