BRAZILIAN Soccer Schools in Bolton are celebrating as their under 12 and under 16 teams both secured football league titles at Manor Fives, in Kearsley.
Futebol de Salao, an exciting and fast moving five-a-side game of South American origin, has become an effective way to help youngsters develop their footballing skills. The game is played on a hard basketball court-sized pitch using a small, weighted ball, and was played by many Brazilian World Cup stars -- including Pele -- in his early years.
Bolton's Brazilian Soccer School, formed 18 months ago, adopted the techniques and now has around 50 members aged between six and 16, including two girls.
Head coach, Brian Leech, said: "I am thrilled that the players have taken both titles with games still left to play. Although our schools place no real emphasis on results, it is nice for the children to have their technique, style of play and skills admired by all who have watched them."
