A DECENT turn out of 22 anglers took part in the fourth match of Royal Ashton AC's Winterleague on Rumworth Reservoir.
Paul Swift turned up the heat on the others as he took the match with a performance that helped to reinforce his position at the top of the aggregate board. Fishing straight lead on the tip with red maggot, he caught small roach steadily throughout the match and his 4lbs-13ozs weight was almost a pound in front.
Rodney Makin fished swimfeeder and he too had a mainly small roach bag but with a few skimmers to turn the scales to 3lbs-14ozs for second place. Third was Chris Riley, who copied Paul by fishing the straight lead and he finished with 3lbs-10ozs.
Aggregate: 1st. Paul Swift 5 points, 2nd. John Crook 7 points, 3rd. Darren Hanley 9 points, joint 5th. Gordon Hardman and Peter Riley 12 points.
Royal Ashton angler John Hanley took the Doe Hey Wednesday Open with three bream caught on the tip for 6lbs-13ozs.
Alan McAtee (BAS) used pole and bloodworm to good effect and was second with bits for 5lbs-13ozs and Bob Fearnhead finished third with 4lbs-5ozs.
