A WARNING has been issued not to dabble with Ouija boards after three people claimed they were terrified by an "evil spirit."
Two woman and a man said a "spirit" threatened to kill them after they used a home made Ouija board.
Susan Daubney, the president of Farnworth Christian Spiritualist Church, is urging other people not to use the boards.
She said: "It's very dangerous to use a Ouija board without the proper knowledge or the right intent.
"Three people were left terrified by a supposed spirit communicator who threatened to kill them. It did not help that they asked for good or evil contact."
Ms Daubney, who has been a medium for 15 years, visited the three friends at their Radcliffe home after they made an anxious call for help.
They told her they had been holding a seance in their kitchen and the Ouija board had suddenly spelled out the word "death".
Ms Daubney said she and two other members of the Farnworth Christian Spiritualist Church had "cleared" the spirit from the house after advising the friends to destroy the board.
She said: "The woman was dreaming about the spirit constantly. She was starting to get ill. This can often happen to people who are not trained to work with spirits."
Ms Daubney, the only medium in the area trained to teach spiritual development, said people who wanted to contact spirits should speak to experienced mediums first.
She said: "People should not try to contact spirits on their own at home. It could be very dangerous."
She added that they were always on hand to give advice and there were several spiritualist churches in the area.
"We will not turn away anyone who needs our help."
