work begins on Monday on a new road safety scheme in Whitefield, and the refurbishment of a busy road in Radcliffe.
Bury Council engineers estimate it will take about eight weeks to complete the scheme in the Victoria Lane area of Whitefield.
The project will involve traffic calming measures in Victoria Avenue, Dudley Avenue, Furness Avenue and Lancaster Avenue. These will range from a 20 mph zone to the provision of raised junction surfaces, carriageway markings and new traffic signs.
Work will also start in Countess Lane, Radcliffe, between the junctions of Radcliffe Moor Road and Stopes Road, on drainage work and carriageway and pavement resurfacing.
Work is expected to last about 10 weeks, but will be suspended over the Christmas period between Friday, December 20, and Monday, January 6.
