I KNOW that the cricket season is long past, but that does not stop me showing a photograph of the Trinity Methodist Church, Walkden, cricket team, in possibly 1937 or 1938.
It has been sent by Mr Alan Lunn (formerly of Walkden, but for the past 40 years a resident of Staffordshire) who says that the team's home games were played on a ground behind the church on Manchester Road East.
"It was a period when nearly all non-conformist church teams had a sports ground behind the church, with facilities for several sporting disciplines - cricket, tennis, croquet, and crown green bowls.
"It may be too late for any members of this team to give any help in recognising team mates, but there may be sons, daughters or grandchildren who can help to identify members of the group. The only ones who can be positively named are Back row: Harry Lunn (first on left, in civilian clothes); Des Donlan (second from right). Middle row: Alfred Cooke (third from left), Tom Brimelow (fourth from left), Bert Green (fifth from left).
If anyone can help, you can contact Mr Lunn at 2 Charnwood Close, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS13 6BU.
