PAUL Warhurst is hoping to make a winning return to Maine Road tomorrow, 14 years after his dream of becoming a Blues' star was shattered.

The former City midfielder, fit again after a nightmare injury run, believes Wanderers can go into the derby with their confidence high after taking four points from Leeds and Chelsea.

"Leeds had a weakened team but going to Elland Road and getting three points was still a fantastic result," he said. "But Chelsea was a bigger game in view of the run they'd had. To hold them to a 1-1 was excellent - we'd have settled for that before the game but we know we really should have won it. We matched Chelsea and proved we can do it at this level."

A lifelong City fan, Warhurst came through the ranks at Maine Road before being sold to Oldham for £10,000 in 1988. " I was very disappointed at the time,." he recalls, "but looking back it was the best decision I ever made because everything has worked out so well."
