A NEW centre offering an open door to young people will be officially opened next week by the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr John Walsh.

Bolton Connexions on Bradshawgate will be staffed full-time by qualified advisers, providing access to information about jobs, training and health as well as computer and internet facilities. It replaces the old careers service.

Young people will be able to take a look at what is on offer at the open day on Saturday, December 7 between 11am and 3pm.

The shop will be open from Monday to Friday between 10am and 5pm but Bolton Connexions say they will consider late night and weekend opening if there is a demand.

There are also a series of outreach centres in Bolton branded in the Connexions' purple and orange colours.

The outreach centres are at Gap, on Halliwell Road, Farnworth Youth Centre, the Youth Workshop in Bolton town centre, Wellfield in Deane and 226-228 St Helens Road.

Chatsworth House, on Bold Street, is the Specialist Careers Advice access point and is staffed by full-time personal advisers.

Councillor Laurie Williamson, Bolton Council Executive Member for Culture, said: "We are delighted Connexions will now have a town centre presence. This launch day is an ideal time for people to go along and see the facilities it offers."
