WIGAN Council is trying to dispel myths surrounding asylum seekers living in the area.
The council has produced a leaflet to confront rumours circulating about asylum seekers, in a bid to allow residents to make an informed judgement.
It explains the process of why they come to Britain, and sets out exactly how much money they get -- £30 per week.
The council say people in Wigan have been given the wrong information, and the record needs to be set straight.
