THE JOHN Smith's Farnworth Winter Rounders League produced a draw on Sunday when Mytham Ladies and Tonge Fold XI ended their match on 169 runs each.
This result lifts them off the bottom of the table and one point clear of Imago, who were without a match.
In the other Section A games, Darcy beat Adlington by 17 after leading by just four runs from the first innings. They stay top of the table, three points above Siddons who beat Hanson by 21 runs.
The losers from these matches now share joint third place.
RESULTS: John Smith's Farnworth League, Section A -- Darcy 174 Adlington 157; Hanson 111 Siddons 132; Mytham Ladies 169, Tonge Fold XI 169. Section B -- Bolton Motor Bodies 126 Advance Computer Systems 145; The Volunteer 13, The Grapes 158; Tonge Moor CC 136 Church Inners 177; Carl Chapman 144 Capital 138.
Halliwell League: Farmers XI 114 Westhoughton & District 147; Hulton Lane B 82, Darcy XI 116(I); Hulton Lane Ladies 131 Cheetham Ladies 106; Lower Pools 99 Boundary Ladies 108; Morris Roofing 179 Bolton Lads & Girls Club 144; Pineapple XI 116 Smithills Coaching House 152.
Eagley League - Pure Asphalt 155 Eagley 82; Dale XI 141 Heaton XI 92; Royal Bolton Hospital 198 Freedom Ladies 142; J & P Ladies beat St Marks Bakery by a walkover.
The losers from these matches now share joint third place, three points behind Siddons, but three clear of Mytham and Tonge Fold.
The Grapes now find themselves at the top of Section B after their defeat of the Volunteer whilst Capital lost by six runs to Carl Chapman XI in a game they had to referee themselves because there was no neutral referee available.
Capital's position in the table was worsened by the correction of a score from a couple of weeks ago, originally recorded as a victory over Bolton Motor Bodies when they had actually lost.
Church Inners 41-run win over Tonge Moor CC means that four teams are now on five points in joint fifth place (the optimist's view), or joint bottom for the pessimists.
The Halliwell League welcomed a new team to replace Hampsons XI. They are Hulton Lane B, a young and inexperienced team with only one member having played before. Their first match was against league leaders Darcy XI and they were dismissed for just 12 runs in the first innings. Although out-classed, they managed to include a rounder in their second innings 27, but more importantly, they enjoyed the game which was a valuable learning experience.
Pineapple's match against Smithills Coaching House was last to finish as both teams batted their full 33 good balls in each innings. Although being remarkably consistent by scoring 58 in each innings, Pineapple could not match Smithills who recorded 77 and 75 to stay joint second in the table.
Morris Roofing kept their share of second spot by beating Bolton Lads & Girls Club who struggled with only eight players. The damage was done in the first innings when Lads & Girls Club scored just 25 to add to their handicap start of 60 and Morris Roofing were one run ahead at the interval. Lads & Girls Club raised their game in the second innings, scoring four rounders on their way to adding 59, but that was insufficient to avoid defeat.
Westhoughton & District stay fourth after their 33-run win over Farmers XI, but they were dismissed with three balls to spare in the first innings and had made up less than half the 50-run handicap.
Boundary Ladies picked up two welcome points from their nine-run victory over Lower Pools who felt their 10-run handicap start was insufficient, but having only nine players in their side, they should perhaps look elsewhere for the cause of their defeat.
Neither Hulton Lane Ladies nor Cheetham Ladies fielded a full team, but again, the lack of numbers may well have been the reason Cheetham lost by 25 runs.
