BOLTON rising motor racer Nik Goodfellow crashed out of his second successive race in the Formula Renault winter season.

Driving for the Formula Renault Team Falcon Motorsport, he worked his way from 24th position to 17th when a tricky braking manoeuvre on a slippery track spun him into the gravel.

But fellow driver Alex Kapadia said: "Despite only ever having driven 200 miles in a racing car, Nik has made tremendous progress. If Nik continues like this, he'll be a championship contender by summer."

Falcon Motorsport's team principal, Nick Streatfield, added: "The way Nik has learned to work closely with everyone in the team has been particularly impressive. This, together with his natural driving talent, will stand him in good stead at any level of motorsport."
