BEING a regular shopper at the Asda store on the Middlebrook Retail Park, I believe it is high time something was done concerning the thoughtless and selfish motorists who park their cars in the bays reserved for parent and child.
I am a mother of two young children and feel that a parent and child space offers a relative degree of safety when getting the children in and out of the car. On a number of occasions I have been sitting waiting for a space, without success, only to see people returning to their cars with no children. These people are arrogant and ignorant. Ignorant to the danger they are putting our children in.
When I approached the customer service desk at the Asda store, I was told: "It's nothing to do with us, it's not our car park." I suggest it's everything to do with Asda, as these spaces are located outside their store for the benefit of their shoppers. I hope this letter will prompt Asda to take this issue seriously and challenge the management of the car park to take preventative measures before a child is seriously injured. A parent and child space is exactly that. Please think before you park your car.
