OH! What a Night, Opera house, Manchester. Runs until December 14
A PARTY of mums and grannies boogied in their seats -- long after the music had stopped.
They obviously did not want to go home and were blocking the aisle for those of us who faced early morning starts.
But it didn't matter.
If they could bottle that feel good factor bursting from this show, it would be a Christmas best seller.
It is all about nostalgia - those disco days of the 70s with platform shoes and flares.
The show has everything needed to fight off those winter blues -- the boy/girl love story, a baddie, excellent music and lots of dancing.
Last time it was in Manchester, Kid Creole took the lead role as the strutting DJ Brutus T Firefly. American Tee Jaye gave the part his own interpretation, it could have been the Afro wig that clinched it!
But the "star" this time round is Three Degrees legend Sheila Ferguson who plays Hollywood talent spotter who visits the Inferno disco.
Wow, this lady is still as sassy as when she caught the eye of the Princes of Wales. Of course there had to be some Three Degrees tracks - When Will I See You Again, and a belting version of I Will Survive.
But the show is not just about Sheila, it is a great performance by all the cast. Watch out for camp doorman Stretch Mulligan. Nigel Roche has made this part his own, and brought the house down with his YMCA routine.
