Despite efforts by the Government to include teaching financial literacy as part of the curriculum, a survey has found that 66 per cent of teachers in the North-west find personal finance difficult to teach.
Specific areas such as the Euro are challenging teachers in the North-west with 71 per cent of those questioned admitting they did not feel they had a sufficient understanding of it.
David Taylor from financial institution, the Britannic Group, which commissioned the survey, said: "Personal finance is still a relatively new area of the curriculum, so it may come as no surprise that teachers surveyed are finding it difficult to teach."
