IN Division One of the BSF Over 35s Pennington moved three points clear at the top with a 2-0 away win at the Willows.

Second half goals from Gilbertson and Wallace settled the match which had been a close affair until late on when Pennington's class began to show.

Dobbies A moved into second place with a great 5-3 win at home to Breightmet United in a hard-fought and competitive game. Two goals from Mullen and one each from Cameron, Howarth and Donlan secured the points for Dobbies. Holding, Trevor Ball and John Dobson were the scorers for Breightmet United.

All matches in Division Two were lost to the weather, but in Division Three, Westhoughton Wingates moved up a place into second spot with a 2-0 win at home to Bottom Bulls Head.

Old Smithillians had a stunning 8-2 victory at home to Walkden AFC, a result that moves them four places up the table into fifth spot. Leading 5-0 at half time, Old Smithillians then conceded two goals to give Walkden hope before it was finally snuffed out by three more second half goals.

It must have been a great game to watch and most of the damage was done by four goals from Paul Hobson. Martin Steel chipped in with two and one each for George Hart and Alan Campbell sealed the rout.
