Rivington 4 Praire 4: RIVINGTON shared the spoils in a dramatic eight goal thriller against Praire.
The result is even more remarkable considering Rivington goalkeeper was Martin Spencer, who had only ever played in goal once before, but volunteered due to the suspension of regular goalkeeper Dave Critchley and the last minute withdrawal of his replacement.
Rivington came into the game on the back of two fine performances and took the lead through Wayne Schingler, but found themselves trailing by the interval.
They equalised when Andy Kennedy put away Danny Purnell's shot which rebounded off the bar but Praire went ahead again 3-2 when, as a result of a defensive muddle, the ball was squeezed home. Kennedy brought them back when he lobbed the 'keeper from 10 yards before Praire went ahead again. Substitute Rob Holding saved the day and scored with a fine volley as time was running out.
With three consecutive committed performances it must only be a matter of
time before Rivington start to climb the table, hopefully commencing at Old
Boltonians next Saturday.
