GRIFFIN maintained second place in the Bolton Sunday League Premier Division despite being held to a 3-3 draw by Horwich Victoria.
Shaun Warloe hit two and Peter Reeves scored the third for Griffin while Paul Walsh (2) and a Neil Blower own goal accounted for Victoria's goals.
With leaders Tonge Moor Conservatives out of action the point was enough to keep Griffin above Bowling Green who made ground after an emphatic 6-1 win over New Edition. David Liversedge and Andy Smith both scored twice for the winners with Mick Hart and Danny Shaw adding one each while New Edition's consolation came from Garry Johnson.
On the day top marksmen were the Carter's Arms strikeforce, who hit nine at bottom side Clifton Rangers. Robert Howarth led the way with a haul of five goals with Shaun Hill grabbing a hat-trick and Tony Lomax adding another while Clifton's only reply came from Peter Johnson.
In the only remaining game to be played in the Premier, Grapes Hotel came out 4-3 winners in a thiller at Doffcocker. Les Hewitt and Kevin Fletcher both scored two for the winners with Paul Worsley's hat-trick coming in vain for Doffcocker.
In the first division the Farnworth Whites hammered Cherry Tree Park by 16-1. Andy Kitchen scored four and Duncan Chadwick along with Steve Waterly both grabbed hat-tricks.
Green Field lost to Beaumont by 9-1.
Farmers Arms drew 2-2 with Wigan Pier Karting.
