TIME has been called on street drinking in Wigan.
The public consumption of alcohol in parts of the town centre will be a criminal offence under new legal powers adopted by the council.
Police will be able to seize alcohol from anyone drinking within the King Street, Wallgate, Crawford Street and Market Place areas, and also at Mesnes Park.
People who refuse to hand over alcohol or continue to drink in these areas will face a fine of up to £500.
