SIX teenagers in Deane who arranged a party for 75 young children have scooped two national awards for their efforts.
The 13 to 15-year-olds spent their summer holidays arranging a party they called "Girls Night In", organising everything from invitation leaflets to party games.
They also made their own decorations and non-alcoholic cocktails for the event at the Willows Community Centre.
Leah Walker, Nicola Olive, Stacey Kirkman, Kerry Smith, Carol Ann Farrell and Sara Parveen decided to do something for youngsters in the area after becoming involved in the Wellfield Project, a peer-led youth scheme supported by Bolton Council's housing department.
Now the girls will be enjoying another party to celebrate winning two awards from Young Movers, anorganisation which helped to fund the original event.
They have been presented with the Directors Award for Community Contribution, and the Marks and Spencer Financial Services Award for Community Projects.
Cllr Noel Spencer, Bolton Council Executive member for housing, said: "The girls did extremely well to win these awards.
"They put a lot of effort into organising this event during their summer holidays, even going on four training courses to make sure they did everything right on the night."
