Wanderers are hoping for a triple injury lift as they bid to give their relegation fight a derby boost on Saturday.
Per Frandsen has won his fitness race while centre halves Gudni Bergsson and Mike Whitlow could also give Wanderers a major lift for the visit of Blackburn Rovers.
Midfielder Gareth Farrelly is also pencilled in for a potential return to the squad and, like Bergsson and Whitlow, his chances will rest on how he fared when his injury was put to the test in training.
It is the tonic Reebok boss Sam Allardyce has been praying for as his side has had to struggle with a glut of first team regulars on the sidelines recently.
The absence of first team regulars Frandsen, Bergsson, Whitlow, Bruno N'Gotty, Bernard Mendy and Farrelly has left Wanderers desperately short of vital quality and experience in recent games.
They overcame the crippling injury list as well as the odds with superb performances against Leeds and Chelsea but the lack of resources finally caught up with them at Manchester City on Saturday which Allardyce described as "a bridge too far".
Frandsen has been in with a chance of making it for the visit of his former club all week and Allardyce today confirmed he has won his fitness race.
The more surprising news is that Whitlow and Bergsson could be back in harness also.
Whitlow was expected to need more time to recover from a knee problem while Bergsson only began light training on Tuesday with a spot of jogging.
If either or both of those can make it Kevin Nolan would be free to move inside from the right wing back role, giving Allardyce refreshing options of who and how to play on Saturday.
"Frandsen is definitely fit and there is a possibility that Bergsson and Whitlow could be fit too," confirmed Allardyce today.
"Frandsen has joined in training in the last couple of days and we will wait until tomorrow on Bergsson and Whitlow.
"The return of players would give us options in terms of who we play with and how we play.
"We have missed players of their type and character as they have been a part in the success we have had at this club and they are a centre half combination who are very comfortable with each other.
"We have had to move the furniture around at the back and with Campo and the quality of Barness we have picked up a couple of good results but we need players back."
