BOLTON Sailing club bosun, Brian Ashworth is a gold medal winner.
Mr Ashworth picked up a sailing "MBE" in the Royal Yachting Association Community Awards, launched to recognise work of individuals who have made an impact on sailing at grass roots level.
The North West regional committee of the RYA nominated Mr Ashworth, one of only 38 chosen nationally. Bolton Sailing Club also picked up honours in the RYA Communication Award for both online and printed publications produced by sailing clubs and classes. The club won regional awards for its website at www.sail.org.uk and for the members' newsletter "Making Waves."
The awards will be presented at the Boat Show at Earls Court, London, in January.
