A NEW competition aims to encourage community business ideas in Breightmet, Tonge Moor, Tonge Fold, Darcy Lever, Hall i' th' Wood and the Haulgh.

East Bolton Regeneration and Catalyst Community Development are providing a prize with a total value of about £6,000.

It will include £1,000 towards initial start-up costs, an opportunity (worth £1,500) to attend a course at the Regen School for Social Entrepreneurs and other valuable support.

Area groups who have an idea for setting up a business which could benefit the community are being asked to apply.

Darron Tustin, Community Enterprise Officer with Catalyst Community Development in Great Moor Street, Bolton, said today: "The winning idea could come from a group which is already running a project -- such as a child-minding scheme or a recycling scheme."

Introduction packs are available from Darron on 01204 334339.
