IREFER to your article in the Bolton Evening News of November 25, headed "Let's put up a statue of Nat".
I think that Nat should receive considerable recognition for his achievements over the past 60 years.
The club, the town, and thousands of past and present supporters should show appreciation for his dedication to the club for all those years.
You will have all the facts and dates the club have called upon Nat when they have been in dire situations.
I started to watch the Wanderers in 1941. I have been a season ticket holder since 1954. My work brought me to Yorkshire in 1972, and I and my grandson, who lives in York, travel to the home games.
I have seen the good times, the bad times, even kept my ticket when we went down to the Fourth Division.
So I would be 100 per cent behind any scheme for Nat if the figure required is only £40,000. Surely we have the people who could get this off the ground?
You don't need me to tell you the Mayor, Cllr John Walsh, must be near to being close to Bolton's number one fan (we spent a very cold day at Hartlepool), also Alan Walsh, who I used to sit with in the Manchester Road Stand for some 20 years prior to the move to the Reebok.
These people, I am sure, would be two high profile figures behind any scheme.
Anyway, it should be Sir Nat Lofthouse.
When donations are called for, put me on the list. I do not get all the news, I get a paper on match days, also I have the Bolton Evening News following matches.
Good luck with any campaign that is launched.
